Monday 3:30pm:
Me: Hi babe, I was just calling to see if you have time to stop by for lunch.
Mr. X: Well actually... I was thinking I would skip lunch and get home around 7.
(as opposed to 9,10, or 11pm!)
WOO HOO! My husband is coming home while the sun is still out!
*I am so excited that I surround myself in a huge bubble of happiness and anticipate his EARLY return.*
Monday 7:10pm:
My bubble is about to burst.
Me: Hi, just calling to see where you are.
Mr. X: Oh, I have some important NEWS to tell you.
Me: What news?
Mr. X: Well...paperwork...blah,blah,blah...some guy...MEPS...appointments...blah, blah...I'M COMING HOME TO PICK UP SOME CLOTHES BECAUSE I HAVE TO SPEND THE NIGHT 3 HOURS AWAY AT A HOTEL.
*POP* So much for my bubble o'happiness!
Me: ..........
Mr. X: Hello? You still there?
6 Helpful Hints:
Once again, you managed to make me laugh this early in the AM...you are too funny. I know all too well the feeling of the bubble being popped! Hope you found something fantastic to do with your free sleepless time.
Sounds familiar! Instead of work being the problem, this week he's sick..oh, well, I guess I should be happy he's here sick instead of work sick.
You are sooo funny. Thanks for stopping by my blog today by way of BATW.
Oh, how many times have I had this conversation? Then, I guess I don't have to tell you about the time he worked late on our anniversary and my birthday, or went on a golf trip when our baby was 10 days overdue (oh, he was back in time, but barely!), etc...
I never see my husband before 8pm. I wish he was home earlier for dinner with the kiddos. And sometimes he can be home early. But he usually gets caught up with something.
And then, a lot of the time, when he does get home, I just hand the reins over to him and skeedaddle. Because I am through. And need to pretend I don't have children :-)
Thanks so much for coming to visit Georgia!
I did find something fantastic to do! My 7 year old decided he wasn't tired so we stayed up late together watching Steel Magnolias (probably something he will deny when he becomes a teen!). He said he loved having just "me and mom time".
